Gilchrist 31 Automatic Ice Cream Scoop, Wood Handle, Size 20 Scoop

Vintage Gilchrist 31 Automatic Ice Cream Scoop with Wood Handle, Size 20 Scoop. The Gilchrist 31 was patented in 1914.  Brass and copper mechanical parts add to the classic appeal of this ice cream disher (as it was called at the beginning of the 1900s). A nice functional scoop for your ice cream needs.

Original box (not included) contained the following instructions:  To take apart, unhook the spring clip (which is carried by the scraper shaft) from the handle, then release the little point on the scraper from the bowl, and the scraper and its shaft and cog can be lifted out.  To remove the thumb piece and spring, take out the cotter pin and lift apart. 

 Marks: Gilchrist 31 (on Middle Pin); 20 (on scraper shaft)

Condition:  Vintage, good to very good.  Mechanical parts move easily.
